Get rid of the "fat" clothes. If you don't have clothing that's comfortable when you're heavier, you're more likely to be reminded to keep the weight off every time you dress. And if you have to purchase a whole new wardrobe you're less likely to gain weight.

Switch to smaller plates. It's been proven that people eat more when more food is in front of them, and they eat less when less food is in front of them. Use the salad plates instead of dinner plates.

Ways of losing weight

It's not only professionals who know ways to lose weight fast, regular people have some ideas too.

Eat grilled or boiled meat such as steak and chicken instead of fried meat. Add spices to make it taste even better.

Get really sick. After a month in the hospital I had lost 25 pounds. (Another bad idea. It's best to stick to ways to lose weight while remaining healthy. After all, the ultimate goal is better health.)

Diet and exercise for fast weight loss

Burning calories walking

Burn more calories than you eat or drink to lose weight. Once the diet part is planned, get to walking. This should include seven days a week, 30 minutes a day of aerobic exercise. Walking is a tolerable, low impact way to accomplish this goal and more importantly to stick with it for a long time. With a few tips in mind it can be even better.

Forget exercising only three or five days a week, aerobic exercise is something you need perform every day forever.

Once the walking is established do some other activities to increase your physical output. This can include simple things like raking leaves instead of blowing them, fun things like playing tag with your children, as well as other every day habits such as parking in the furthest space from the store rather than the closest.

Intervals can be added once the walking has been established. {Intervals are short bursts of increased activity sprinkled into a normal routine. Start out by running for 30 seconds every 10 minutes of the walk. Gradually increase this to a one minute run every five minutes, which goes like this. You walk for the first four minutes, then run for the fifth, then walk the next four minutes, run the next minute, and so on for the duration of 30 minutes. Keep in mind that a run is not a jog, it's faster, like a sprint. So if you have to work up to run with jog at first|After a short period of walking run, then walk again, then go back to running. Start out running once or twice in a 30 minute walk, then up it to more often until you're walking 4 minutes then running 1 minute It's not that hard.

Make walking a whole family activity. Walk the kids to school instead of driving them. Walk to the store. Get out and see the sights. And no, don't quit on a rainy day. Wear a rain coat and some galoshes.

How to lose weight fast

The three day weight loss program

The "3 Day Diet" dates back to 1985 and today can be found all over the Internet and on book store shelves. The three day diet and its variants boast quick weight loss, a cleansing of the system, lower cholesterol and increased energy all through a "specific metabolic reaction" that no version of the diet has ever validated. The diet is to be followed for only 3 days, with an off period of generally 5 days in between diet times. All the versions of this diet share in common specific steps that must be followed and foods that must be eaten in order for the diet to work. What better way to blame the dieter when it doesn't work than "you botched the formula."

Breakfast on the first day begins with coffee (no sugar), one half a grapefruit, and a piece of toast with 1 Tbsp peanut butter. Lunch is a can of tuna, a piece of toast, and black coffee. For dinner it's 3 ounces of chicken or lean meat, a cup of green beans, one cup of carrots, one apple, and one cup of regular vanilla ice cream. The other two days of the diet are relatively similar in meal quantity, though the specifics change, for example Day 2 recommends two beef franks for dinner in place of three ounces of lean meat. Supposedly it's possible to lose as much as 10 pounds in only three days.

Hogwash is the answer. The question is what is a specific reaction to that claim? There is no evidence for the so-called "specific metabolic reaction." The only reason this diet would shed pounds is because of the lack of calories in the diet. In fact, because the diet is so low in carbohydrates a person could lose ten pound in three days. Of course most of that would be water weight because carbohydrates encourage the body to retain water. By the way, losing that much weight from not retaining water is dangerous as the body needs water to survive.

Because of binge eating after such starvation and because most of the weight lost is from water, the weight will quickly return after the three days. Deprive the body of water in three day cycles enough times and a person could develop kidney damage, dehydration, or a host of other dangerous conditions.

The 3 day diet is best treated as a no day diet. In other words, don't do it.
